Here’s what an insider said.
Valerie Biden Owens, the President’s younger sister has said that he would “absolutely” run for re-election in 2024.
During her interview with “Good Morning Britain,” Biden Owens spoke highly of her brother’s actions and performance, and she even claimed that he was exactly the President needed during this situation the U.S. finds itself in.
“Joe is the right person at the right time for the right job,” Biden Owens said. “There’s lot of things still to do.”
When asked by the interviewer about President Biden running again in 2024 despite his low approval ratings and age, Biden Owens noted that he would “absolutely” run again.
“Oh yes, absolutely. Absolutely,” Biden Ownes responded.
She is not the first person from Biden’s close circle to say that he would run for a second term. According to reports, Biden told former President Barack Obama of his plans to run again in 2024.
“[Biden] wants to run and he’s clearly letting everyone know,” a source told The Hill.
“I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump. I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic Party who can beat Trump and that’s the biggest factor,” the source added.
Still, Biden’s possible victory in 2024 has been questioned as his approval rates have been gradually getting worse since August of last year. According to the Quinnipiac University poll, his current approval rates of 33% are the lowest of his so far presidency.
Former President Donald Trump has also hinted at a possible comeback and attempt to run again when he said in front of a crowd last month that “we may have to run again.”
