After finishing a nearly 40-minute speech at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, Biden moved towards the right side of the stage with his hand outstretched in what resembled a handshake position.
At the time he was alone on stage, and no one from the crowd was approaching the President according to the video footage of this event.
Biden did shake hands with Malcolm Hawkins, the electrical engineering student who introduced him before the start of the speech.
His remarks were focused on putting pressure on Congress to increase funding for semiconductors production. This was previously proposed in the Bipartisan Innovation Act.
Some political adversaries, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), reacted to the President’s exit online.
